My people perish for lack of vision11/11/2023 ![]() ![]() Because you have rejected knowledge, I also will reject you from being priest for Me Because you have forgotten the law of your God, I also will forget your children. In Scripture, whenever a person asked God for the meaning of a vision, God made sure it was explained to the person (Daniel 8:15-17). My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Picture, if you can, a starving, pale, and sick Christian. The people in the days of Hosea were starving for real food, the Word of God, and it was the priests who were to blame for this famine. God would not give a vision to a person and then keep the meaning of the vision hidden. M Y PEOPLE perish for want of knowledge.' This is the Lords complaint in Hosea 4:6. Then in distress you will look with envious eye on all the prosperity that shall be bestowed on Israel, and there shall not be an old man in your house forever. Then prayerfully consider what God would have you do in response to the vision (James 1:5). Behold, the days are coming when I will cut off your strength and the strength of your father's house, so that there will not be an old man in your house. Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he. The NLT translates the verse as When people do not accept divine guidance, they run wild. Why then do you scorn my sacrifices and my offerings that I commanded for my dwelling, and honor your sons above me by fattening yourselves on the choicest parts of every offering of my people Israel?’ Therefore the Lord, the God of Israel, declares: ‘I promised that your house and the house of your father should go in and out before me forever,’ but now the Lord declares: ‘Far be it from me, for those who honor me I will honor, and those who despise me shall be lightly esteemed. ![]() ![]() The first problem with this notion, is that nowhere else in scripture ( that I’m aware of. This verse is most often used to suggest that since the people perish due to a lack of vision what they need to survive is a pastor who casts visions or a prophet who shares visions.
